Hi, I'm Ethan Davidson ABCDT

Certified Dog Trainer
Hi, I'm Ethan Davidson!
I attended Animal Behavior College to become a Certified Dog Trainer and to study Pet CPR & First Aid. I'm a member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and am volunteering on the APDT Ethics Committee. I'm dedicated to continued education in dog training, so currently I am attending Duke University's Canine Emotion and Cognition online course.
My first priority when working with any dog is to gain their trust, then build confidence. A confident dog is less likely to have behavioral issues and more likely to explore new things, making obedience training easier.
It's important to me that your dog not only listens to us, but understands that we listen to them. I train dogs so that they know we are in a partnership. When you lay that foundation, you end up with a strongly bonded, well trained, and happy dog.
Why I started Dog Training
I adopted Kona when she was nine months old. For the first three months of her life she was abused and for the next six she was a stray. Needless to say, when I first got her she had a wide array of behavioral problems.
After gaining her trust, we started training together and we both learned an incredible amount from one another. I learned how to care for reactive dogs and how to work through behavioral problems. After a few years of consistent training, Kona has been able to open herself up and begin to trust and love everyone, including strangers. We are currently working towards getting her Canine Good Citizen award.
Kona made me realize that every dog, no matter their history, has a chance to become a well trained dog. She inspired me to dedicate my life to helping all of the other "Konas" in the world.
